Are you a laser beam or a disco ball? Channel your energy now

Hi friends,

This week I’ve felt more scattered than usual, have you? Not that that’s new for me. I often start 20 projects at the same time, which usually means lots of beginnings… without many endings. In the past, I saw this as a flaw.

But this week, I had a burst of clarity: those “unfinished” things weren’t wasted. The skills I picked up, the systems I built, the ideas I captured — they’ve all become bricks in a wall I’m still building. Even without realizing it, my past self was laying the groundwork for where I am now. Perspective really does matter, and I found myself feeling grateful for her vision, even if she didn't always follow through.

This ties directly into the fact that Mars is in Gemini all month. This transit can bring a rush of mental activity, ideas, and curiosity — but it can scatter your focus if you try to chase everything at once. The trick is to let the brainstorming happen, then channel that energy into one thing that will bring you the greatest satisfaction, peace, success, or surprise (in Human Design, these are the signature feelings that signal you’re in alignment for your energy type).

Think laser beam instead of disco ball — instead of trying to light up every corner at once, choose the one thing that matters most right now, and give it your full attention.

Focusing Prompts

  1. What’s the one area of my life that, if improved or completed, would create the biggest positive shift for me right now?
  2. What is one simple action I can take today to move this forward?
Astro Note ✨
Speaking of mental clarity, Mercury finally stationed direct this Monday 🎉 (was it just me, or was this one particularly frustrating?!). That said, communication might still feel a little foggy over the next few days. Think of it as an astrological hangover — the remnants of a bender that should clear up by the 15th or 16th. Give yourself grace if your focus or clarity comes in crumbs instead of all at once this week.

Recs

  • 🏊‍♀️ Go swimming this week! Most Austin pools close the 17th, though a few gems are open year-round.

Til next week...
xo,
Christen

PS - I recently upped my pricing for Human Design Chart Reports on Etsy and my website after watching a business class on ads — and hearing from some folks who are still working through theirs. That said, I’m definitely still offering friends (and friends of friends) a hefty discount. Just email me and we’ll work it out.

Christen Hong Coaching 9/24/25 Hi friends, I’ve noticed how my constant habit of tuning into my phone leaves me feeling overwhelmed. The news cycle is endless and often debilitating — to the point where lately I found myself struggling to do anything. I know that to show up effectively in the world, I have to take care of myself first. So this week I gave myself a break and made Sunday an internet-free day. I’ve taken internet breaks before and they always feel good — and yet, it’s still...

Christen Hong Coaching 09/17/25 Hi friends, Maybe it's the eclipse season stirring things up, but I've been noticing how often a tiny assumption can quietly snowball into a whole story I take as truth. This week I've been reflecting on projection and assumption, and how they shape the way I relate to what I think I know. Over the weekend I ran into a friend and recalled a story that we had discussed years ago. I said, "You told me your dad subscribed to Rare Fruits Magazine when you were a...

Christen Hong Coaching 9/10/25 Hi friends, I've been paying more attention to my thought patterns lately — especially the way they can shape my expectations without me even realizing it. This week I listened to a 3-part series with Louise Hay and Cheryl Richardson based on their book You Can Create an Exceptional Life. In it, they spoke about the impact of your thoughts on how you experience the world. This, in conjunction with last week's reflection, had me noticing the little things I...
