A simple process for the year ahead

Hi friends,

Happy New Year! Perhaps it's my Capricorn sun and moon, but I tend to be a planner. I love setting a goal and then taking steps to make it happen — it's a guiding force in my life and something I genuinely enjoy. So when I saw this TikTok earlier this week, it guided me to spend a little time dreaming up my plans for 2026. It was surprisingly fun and light, so I thought I'd share here in case this is your kind of thing.

Year in Motion: A 3-Step Planning Process for 2026

  1. Set Your Misogi
    Choose one meaningful, challenging goal for the year and let it guide you. This isn’t about guaranteed success — it’s about stretching yourself in a way that builds resilience and opens the door to unexpected growth. Even moving toward it with intention can shift the course of your year.
  2. Pick 6 Mini Adventures
    Come up with six things to look forward to this year. I think of this as little scavenger hunts — not tied to specific dates, but experiences I'll be intentional about making happen. One of mine, for example, is to take a day trip to a nearby town. I'm not sure which one yet, but I know it's achievable and will keep an eye out for the right weekend (suggestions welcome!).
  3. Choose 1 Winning Habit Per Quarter
    Choose a habit and commit to it every day for a quarter (4 total). I used to work at a company that gave us a quarterly stipend to pursue a goal, and one quarter I committed to meditating every morning — and experienced profound insight and alignment. So I'm doing it again and committing to daily meditation for Q1 '26.

It was surprisingly fun dreaming up my year ahead, and now I feel like I have a game plan to guide me. Let me know if you try out this process too.

January 3rd brings the first full moon of the year — the Wolf Moon. Traditionally, this symbolizes instinct, resilience, and emotional insight as we move into the year — making it a perfect backdrop for setting intentions for the coming months.
